Our Tennessee Trip Day 2
Our Thanksgiving Tennessee Trip Day 1
We went to Tennessee over the Thanksgiving break to visit Mom's family. The first day of our trip was actually Thanksgiving, but the extended family was having their dinner Saturday instead. We spent the day at Tims Ford State Park. It was fun. The kids rode their scooters on the trails in the woods, we had a turkey sandwich picnic at a table by the river, and Sydney tried a swing for the first time. It was a nice day.

Pretty in Pink at 3 Months Old
Sydney turned three months old on Friday. She went to the doctor this morning for her check-up and is doing well. She weighed 13 pounds 1 ounce and was 24 inches long. Lydia was also 13 pounds 1 ounce at her three month check-up. Mom put Sydney on Morgan's bed this afternoon while she changed Morgan, and Sydney fell asleep. She looked cute surrounded in pink.

Under the Christmas Tree Pictures
What would you like for Christmas?
Since we will be out-of-town for the next couple weekends, we decorated our house for Christmas this evening. We asked each child what they are hoping for this year for Christmas. You can press play on each video to hear the answer...
Morgan wants Princess and Dora stuff. She never specifies what type of stuff. She just wants Princess and Dora.
Seth wants a board (a dry erase easel board for art) and some type of gun (nerf gun we hope??) We're not sure if Santa's elves make any other type of guns :-)
Lydia wants another webkinz, art stuff, and a movie.
Sydney is still pondering what she wants this year.

Mom and Dad should have saved their efforts in Morgan and Sydney's room...
Mom and Dad recently worked hard to turn Lydia's room into a room for Morgan and Sydney and move Lydia to Morgan's old room. It seemed to them that Morgan would be happy with shiny pink bedding and princess sheets. She loves the room, but she would much rather sleep on a sleeping bag on the floor than the bed. She then moves to Mom and Dad's bed or floor in the middle of most nights. Sydney has a similar story. She sleeps in a basinette in Mom and Dad's room and usually ends up in their bed also by morning.
You know you're getting old...
when historical fiction is being sold to children about when you were born :-) Lydia's friends have American Girl dolls, and as a result, she has been asking about them lately and would like one. Mom thought she did a good job explaining to Lydia that the dolls are characters from historical fiction books. Mom explained that for instance one of the dolls is from the pioneer days and she would be a character from that time. Since Lydia's birthday and Christmas are approaching, Mom gave her a catalog and asked her if there was one she liked the most. Mom was not happy when the one Lydia picked was from the decade Mom was born! How educational can a historical fiction book be about the 70's :-)
Our Little Man
Seth has been sick for the past couple days. He's been sleeping a lot during the day which has resulted in his being awake some at night. Last night he wanted to watch Sponge Bob at around 10 pm. Mom explained to him (multiple times) that although it appears that Sponge Bob is always on tv, it isn't on late at night.
Mom flipped through the channels, and Seth saw a replay of a college football game he wanted to watch. He recently has developed a love of watching football on tv. (However, if you ask him if he wants to play football, he is quick to tell you no. He says he wants to be a football coach. If he was a player, someone might knock him down which would hurt. This is fine with Mom.)
Mom left and a few minutes late Seth screamed Mom for about the fifth time. He had already requested drinks, food, a special blanket, etc. Mom put down Sydney and went to check on him again. He told her that he couldn't see the score on his little TV without getting up, and he would like her to read the score to him....

The Early Bird Gets a Clock
Seth has always been our early bird which doesn't work well in a family of night owls. The door to his room screetches loudly when he opens it, and Dad intentionally doesn't fix it so we know when Seth gets up in the morning. We usually hear the screetch about 6:00-6:15. We decided to put a clock in Seth's room and explain to him that if the first number is less than a 7, it is still the middle of the night... he needs to go back to bed :-) So far so good, he waited until after 7 to get up this morning. He's really excited about his clock. He can look at his books if the middle of the night isn't over yet.

Haircut Day
Our Ghost
A funny thing has been happening around our house... When Morgan is supposed to be in bed at night or at naptime, what appears to be a pink ghost takes her favorite blankie and wanders around the house. The ghost seems to really think that Mom and Dad won't recognize her if she can't see them. Mom and Dad find it hysterical.
