Morgan Lost Her Lunch...

Sydney went to a babysitter this morning, and she's always very hungry when she returns. She quickly ate her lunch today, and Mom got her out of her high chair. Mom heard Morgan's screams a couple minutes later and saw that Sydney ripped Morgan's lunch off the table and was eating her food on the floor. Morgan was not pleased :-)

"Ring Around A Rosie"

Sydney loves it when she can find someone to do "Ring Around A Rosie" with her. She'll run up to someone and hold out her hands. She usually doesn't have too much trouble finding someone to play with her.

Mom and Dad are hoping they have food poisoning...

Mom and Dad both woke up tonight really sick within about an hour of each other. They had Chinese food last night and are hoping it came from that... Otherwise, it's probably just a stomach virus, and all four kids will have it soon. For now, the kids will be taking over the house today, and Mom and Dad will try to survive both being sick at the same time.

The Kids Fall in Love with Politics :-)

The kids have no idea what a county commissioner does...

Two of the three children have little idea what voting means...

However, Seth and Morgan's best friends next door's grandpa is running for reelection as a county commissioner. He invited them to walk in the local parade this weekend and throw candy. They were THRILLED. They were even more excited when he bought them snow cones after it was over.

If he's still in office in 12-15 years, he'll have their vote!

(12 small marshmallows) + (promise of unlimited computer time after school tomorrow) + (15 minutes) = (kid who can tie his shoes)

Mom volunteers in Seth's class for part of Tuesday mornings. Each week she quizzes each of the 26 kids over some knowledge or skill they are supposed to already know or will be learning during kindergarten. The teacher told her last Tuesday that the next time she would be testing the kids over shoe tying. Since Seth couldn't tie his shoes, she knew he had to learn in a week because she didn't want him failing her Tuesday test :-) Well, she and Dad procrastinated waited until Monday night at 7:30 to teach him. Fortunately, he's fairly easy to bribe. He said he didn't want to learn, but with constant marshmallow reinforcement and the promise that if he learned, Mom would say yes everytime he asked to use the computer tomorrow (unless he was supposed to be doing something else,) he learned in 15 minutes. He is now ready for Mom's shoe tying test tomorrow. He'll won't need to know after that anyway. His school shoes and gym shoes are both velcro, and Mom intends to keep it that way for a few years.

Morgan's First Late Night Study Session

When it was time to put Morgan to bed tonight, Mom remembered that Morgan had homework for the first time that's due tomorrow. Instead of going to bed on time, Morgan got to stay up late doing homework. (Seth was very jealous when he heard Morgan up later than him.) She worked hard to do a good job but was very afraid that her homework could mess up her freshly painted pretty pink finger nails :-)

Labor Day Weekend Change of Plans

We were supposed to meet Mom's family in Kentucky for Labor Day Weekend. However, Sydney and Morgan got sick, and we had to change our plans. We're now hanging out at home this weekend instead. Mom and Lydia spent most of Saturday cleaning and making stuff to decorate Lydia's new room. Dad and Seth are planning to golf on Sunday.
